Bassocontinuo Audio Systems Ghironda Configurable Rack 2, 3, or 4 Tier, Double Wide, Multi-Ply Hardwood

This is the double wide Ghironda model from the Bassocontinuo Reference Line. The finish is carbon fiber; construction is multi-ply hardwood (unlike the newer versions of this rack which use MDF).

I am the second owner. There are a few distress marks within the hard clear coat finish which do not break the surface – sort of like a small hematoma just below skin level, and other small scratches and minor wear. See photos. At a distance of two to three feet, I cannot see any of the marks or blemishes; however, please note the exception summarized below.

Although the retail pricing is for a four-tier rack, I am basing my asking price on the cost of a three-tier rack because the clear coat finish of the fourth shelf was damaged in moving. The last two photos show the two significant scrapes. It appears that the damage is only to the clear coat finish, so it may be repairable. There does not appear to be any damage to the shelf material. I used the rack without repairing the finish of the one shelf by flipping it upside down. The bottom side (which I made the top side) does not have the carbon finish but it has a beautiful wood grain finish that is brought to a furniture grade polish and is stunning in its own right. The coloring and finish blends seamlessly with the other shelves as you can see from the photos. I placed this shelf on the bottom tier so that the damage is not visible. This of course is an exception to the 7 rating. Functionally, the entire rack is a 10.

The rack is hand made in Italy, and beautiful to look at. It is also highly functional for isolation and the displacement of vibration. Although it is a substantial, heavy-duty rack, it is manageable because each tier can be separately handled. I assembled and disassembled the rack myself; it can be a one-man job.

Each shelf measures 44.9" wide by 22.2" deep. Each shelf is 1.2 inches thick. The load capacity of each shelf other than the bottom shelf is 265 pounds; the load capacity of the bottom shelf is 330 pounds. The width between the front legs for the shelves below the top shelf is 19.7 inches. Wider items can be placed from the side since the width of the shelf will accommodate wider equipment.

Cylinders, spikes, elastomer spacers, and pucks are all included; however, please note that the four tall cylinders shown in the first photo of the empty rack are not included. They belong to the Bassocontinuo Revolution Argo 2.0 RAC-BK Amplifier Stand Shelf which I purchased new in September 2020 for $1500 including the extra cylinders. The amplifier stand is in the carbon fiber finish (RAC-BK = Racing Black) and is also available for sale. There may be a few hardware items shown in the photos for this ad which were removed when I took inventory of what belongs with the rack versus the amp stand, so to avoid any misunderstanding the following is a complete list of hardware not including the elastomer bushings (which are included with the sale though); the rack is customizable and additional cylinders are available from dealers:

There are many different possible configurations, depending on whether you use 3 or 4 shelves, and how much distance you need between shelves. The following are a few examples based on the included inventory of cylinders and spikes. Of course, you can also purchase more cylinders and spikes from Bassocontinuo.

Configuration 1
2-3/4 inch spike + 2x 2-3/4 inch cylinder = 8.25 inches for three tiers

Configuration 2
Add 1 one-inch cylinder to two tiers = 9.25 for two of the three tiers, and 8.25 inches for one tier

Configuration 3
Add 2 one-inch cylinders to one tier = 10.25 for one of the three tiers, and 8.25 inches for two tiers

Configuration 4
2-3/4 inch spike + 3x 2-3/4 inch cylinder = 11 inches for one tier
2-3/4 inch spike + 1x 2-3/4 inch cylinder + 2x 1 Inch Cylinder = 7.5 inches for one tier
2-3/4 inch spike + 1x 2-3/4 inch cylinder = 5.5 inches for one tier

I have a pallet and recommend shipping by freight on a pallet. The shelves and cylinders will ship in three boxes. Two boxes contain (in each) one shelf plus two smaller boxes with the cylinders, spikes, elastomer bushings, and pucks. The third box contains two shelves and no cylinders. The boxes and packing are original from Bassocontinuo; however, I added extra packing materials for added protection. One or more of the inner boxes include the manufacturer's easy to follow assembly instructions.

Purchaser pays for shipping. I will obtain quotes from freight carriers, or the buyer can specify the shipping company. Please ignore any so-called shipping calculators. Actual quoted shipping costs will apply. As an example, I obtained quotes from Pilot Freight Services at $390.08 for shipping to Stamford, Connecticut, and $538.40 for shipping to Claremont, California.
