         In an effort to simplify (unify?) my systems, I am selling components from my secondary systems. This listing is for Marantz SC11S1 preamp and its matching Marantz SM11S1 amplifier. Both units are functionally and cosmetically in new condition. Come from children/pet/smoke free environment.  Marking 9/10 as may have Couple of insignificant nicks on close inspection.

Marantz SC11S1 is simply the most involving, musical, and natural sounding preamplifier, possessing an unparalleled ability to render the recording in purest manner, in my personal experience.

Marantz SM11S1 is class A/B design. It providesfast, Transparent, detailed and powerful sound withclear, well-defined and well-focused imaging , generously wide and deep soundstage.

         Together Marantz amp / preamp combo  excels in vibrancy, textural suppleness, and overall tonal and dynamic sophistication that can not be achieved anywhere near its price point. Truly collectible and rare to find in this condition.

Both units come with original power cord, manual, and box.

Detailed Impressions: Coming from an all tube system (Coincident Technology’s Frankenstein monoblocks/Line Stage and Phono preamp), I was pleasantly surprised with Marantz amp/preamp combo offering dynamics/drive/grunt along with tube’s warmth, richness and full body.  Build quality is exceptional ( Bi-Amp Mode, Choke Input System Power Supply Circuit, Toroidal Transformer with Aluminum Shield Case and a lot more). Allows RCA and XLR input/output and pre-out for connecting subwoofer. Comes with remote control, manual and original box.

Marantz SC11S1 Phono stage is really special. Preamp allows MM and MC functionality. I extensively used Marantz’s built in MC phono section and found it to be quiet, transparent and dynamic.  On multiple occasions, local audiophile group members  compared the built in Marantz phono  preamp to very high priced DSA Phono One preamp (8K retail), Clear audio basic plus phono (1.8K),  Musical Surroundings Phonomena II+,  quicksilver MC SUT and MC section of  parasound P7. In this list, DSA became contender and we did extensive A-B testing after matching gain. Though, DSA had edge on the tone, it sounded somewhat slow and not as dynamic.  In the end, in my system, for my music choice (80% Classical, 20% jazz) consensus was that Marantz  MC would be more fulfilling in long term due to its dynamic abilities.

Lastly, I do have matching Marantz SA7 SACD player in absolutely mint condition. This is truly  exceptional sounding CD player and a true classic and collectors item.  I compared this to EMM Labs XDS-1, that I owned as well.  The EMM sounded slightly more detailed, but the Marantz had that magical ability to weave detail in with a fuller body, natural warmth and smoothness. The Meitner by comparison seemed a little dry and clinical. I ultimately went with the SA-7 and sold XDS-1.
