Component History...

Purchased from the original owner about 2 years ago.
This MCD-7000 was McIntosh's First Digital Based
Component...

Cosmetically...

I gave this unit a 7/10 due to very poor packing prior to shipping there is minor  slight hairline crack in the front glass on the upper left side when you look at the component. Its not a cosmetic game changer for sure. For the vintage of this fantastic MCD-7000 cosmetically is very good overall.

This is the first cd player I ever saw with heatsinks on the back of it...

The second minor cosmetic ding as it were n on the back of the unit on the lower left side viewing at the unit from the back, the small metal extension was bent in shipping as well (refer to photos 8-9).

For the vintage of this fantastic MCD-7000 cosmetically  it shows very well...

* Note: Neither of these cosmetic blemishes effect the component operationally in any way. In the spirit of full disclosure is why I am pointing them out ...

(Along those lines anyway.) Very good bass extension, detailed mid's and airy highs. If you like grace with out graininess, even if your other components induce that listener fatigue, the Mac will bring all your other components to a higher level...

In my experience using the MCD-7000 I concur with the above "Ears on Assessment " adding that when I did a direct comparison with my Prima Luna Prologue 8 made in 2008 New was $2,500 without the Six NOS Tubes which are currently in mine, the Prologue only bested the McIntosh by a shade in some areas but overall the McIntosh was quite impressive ...

So with the MCD-7000 you will get surprising results including the very good tube like presentation. You can place the musicians in your listening room as if they were there...

Being able to hear the MCD-7000 thru both Solid State & Tube Amp & Preamp combinations I can say with confidence that this McIntosh Player's presentation of the music will bring the creative artistic emotion that the musics creators intended that "Live you are there" experience that we seek to feel "and hear through our respective Audio Systems...
