JBL XPL200A Speakers.
These are the legendary XPL200A speakers designed by Greg Timbers at JBL If you are reading this you probably know everything about this masterpiece from JBL.
I purchased them directly from JBL in 1992. They have been used in my home system since purchased.
The 12" LF drivers have been professionally re-coned. The damping foam behind all the Hi-MF/HF drivers has been replaced.
The XPL200As have been powered by an Emotiva XPR-5 bi-amped via an Ashly XR-1001 electronic x-over.
As any prospective buyer knows, these speakers do not reach their potential unless bi-amped. As such I am including the Ashly XR-1001 as part of the sale.
There is a great article on the site Audiophile Nirvana (audiophilenirvana.com) where, after their review, they called the XPL200A one of the "Holy Grails" of audio. Great read to get an independent idea of what these speakers are all about.
The sale also includes a pair of the JBL MTX200 speaker stands (not shown). The XPL200A pair are currently fitted with angled speaker spikes.
Prefer local pick up in the Houston area - I will meet to deliver if a reasonable distance.
I do not have the original shipping boxes, but can ship at buyer's expense.

The best payment method would be PayPal through Audiogon. Where are you in Texas? I can meet to deliver the speakers if you are reasonably close. As I mentioned, since we are building a new house, the XPL-200As are currently stored in my study. I can connect them to a AV recover to show that they are operational, but would not able to perform a full performance demonstration. |

I can't recall the name of the shop that did the surrounds but they were a large JBL Pro Audio shop. The surround replacement was performed about 5 years ago. |
| I never thought I would see a pair of these for sale again, I have a set and they are absolutely incredible and I don’t have the crossover or stands. Whoever gets them will be very lucky . Harold, you definitely should use an electronic crossover @ about 350Hz. XPL designer Greg Timbers advised that he did not really like the perfomance of the 12" LF with the passive crossover inductor in the circuit. I can attest to the benefit. It really transforms the speaker and immerses you in the music much more effectively - especially at higher sound pressure levels. Building a house and need to migrate to in-wall JBL SCL-6. No queston, the XPL200A are the best speakers I have ever heard in a home environment. |
