A couple A’goners have asked what upgrades have been done or are available. When these were originally made, they had all the options: Toroid, spandex cover, upgraded zebra wood, casters, spikes, Sound Lab speaker storage covers for dust control. They have just returned from Sound Lab - they obviously don’t have the 45 degree angle, but they were already 75 vs 90 degrees for the larger panels. I was advised by Sound Lab, that they have received “numerous upgrades compared to the original and should play better than new”
REDUCED! These beautiful and unique Sound Lab M2 full-range electrostatic speakers have just been completely re-paneled and re-covered by Sound Lab. Including a photo from Sound Lab prior to them being shipped back to me.
These are likely the only pair to have side panels finished in Zebrano/Zebrawood. Truly provides some visual interest versus the monolithic black of many of these types of speakers. These are gorgeous. Perhaps the “sweet spot” for size in Sound Lab - not so huge as to be unmanageable, but absolutely full range 30hz-20khz+. No need for a sub with these as long as your equipment is capable of exploiting their capabilities - have used tubes, solid state and hybrids all to great effect. Rating them 8/10 - panels are clearly brand-new, and backplates are in fine condition.
