Questions for the seller
If I was selling an unopened box that was unopened for a considerable period of time, I would Open and see if it worked and worked as expected for a new unit. And then post it is just been opened and tested to be in mint condition. Who knows it's probably aged and corroded after being in the box for so long, humidity storage issues no one knows.
I don't think so, I have owned a record store for a long time, and have bought and sold many a sealed item. many of which I have kept for myself. and they have all been in mint condition with no cosmetic or functional issues whatsoever. This is because the companies don't just put them in a box. they are wrapped, then in styrofoam then usually in an internal box, then more styrofoam then the shipping box. This tends to protect the item from any kind of oxidation, corrosion, etc. So I'm not concerned about there being any kind of degradation at all.
