Van den Hul Colibri XGP-SPED MC Moving Coil Phono Cartridge.

This is a "SPED" version, so called SPED (special edition) modification concerns replacement of the suspension wire by a thinner version, replacement of the damper rubbers by a “faster” type and a longer cantilever.

Bought this cartridge from a reputable audio dealer in 2017, and did the first "200 hour service" (factory adjustment) in 2017, and at the same time upgraded to Koa wood body.

This cartridge is in great operational and cosmetic condition, the sound is detailed, fast, and dynamic, stylus still sharp, cantilever and suspension is also in excellent condition. Used under 250 hours and has been stored for many years. If you want the best, this is your chance to own one. I am only selling as I have the new top of the range Grand Cru.

This top model custom hand built phono cartridge: The Van Den Hul Colibri XGP cartridge featuring matched crystal gold coils with 0.38mV/channel output, Koa wood body and Stradivarius lacquer finish, Koa Wood Body treated with 400 year old formula Stradivarius lacquer that gives it a rigid, hard shell that results in superior sonics and an amazing sound!

I have included a microscopic photo of the stylus. To obtain the best performance it should be matched with a top flight tone arm and phono stage.

The Colibri is the improved successor to our Grasshopper “Beauty” series of phono cartridges where many building components have been removed in a highly successful quest to return to the plain essence of phono transduction.

The result is an unbelievably straightforward sounding “clean and open” design, in all its aspects bearing much resemblance to the “Colibri” named tropical bird’s swiftness, elegance and beauty; Hence the cartridge’s name.


This cartridge comes with original wood box, screws and bubble level.
