Robert Goulet began the 1970s with a collection of (surprise!) love songs, including some that had been released on previous albums, like "On a Clear Day (You Can See Forever)." Some of the others are well-known standards and should please collectors looking for "As Time Goes By," "Call Me Irresponsible," and "The Nearness of You." I Wish You Love offers no less than four of Goulet's greatest hits, including "This Is All I Ask." Many of these songs are available in collections, but I Wish You Love is a good stand-alone love album and a good original release, in spite of some redundancy of material. It is a rich, strong collection with few clunkers, unavailable on CD but recommended nonetheless. (AMG)
