What you should know about the Martin Logan i series. The i series is of course the later version of the Depth Sub, no i means its an oldie out of production. That is well known. What I found out though when I took this sub in to my dealer about a year ago after I bought it is that there were a couple versions of the i series too. Initially after the upgrade the subs had a version of both woofer and amp that has since been phased out even though labeled i. There isn't a way to tell cosmetically that I know of. The problem arises from the fact that if a driver has to be changed out to the newer version then the amp has to be changed as well. The worse news is that all three drivers should be changed at once. This won't arise often as the older parts were not used for that long after the change to the i series but you should be careful if you buy a used unit you think may need to be serviced.

My sub had a light hum when I bought it. I was told all the above at the dealer but then later informed by the service dept that the sub has the latest drivers, amps. Wiring was re routed around the power supply and the amp tests "well under factory specs" and is now dead quiet. Frequency sweep and other testing performed by Service as well for confirmation that it is within standards. I will supply the receipt with the info confirming current version of amp and performance with the sale.

Functionally perfect I rated appearance at a 7 just for age, no specific nicks or scratches stand out.

TERMS- In this case I will have to package the sub in aftermarket boxes and therefore fixed rate to ship insured US mainland is $90. The sub is priced very well for condition and I won't be lowering price for the first week or two. I will cover your pay pal fee if you use paypal.

Questions for the seller
Hi, I would be interested in your sub if it was not for the shipping charges that is a killer ($92.00). I will keepin touch and if you do bring the cost down maybe we can work out a deal. I just purchased a ML depth so I am looking for something to match with it. Thanks, Dave
I can pack the item in box with a wood bottom but $899 for the sub is freakin superb and I don't intend to take additional loss on shipping. Did you put the weight and your zip in the shipping cost estimator in the ad? Was it cheaper? Make an offer based on that perhaps, show serious intent and I'll respond.
I understand, my zip code is 60169.A suburb of Chicago. So mabe you can give me a exact shipping cost. Keep it listed here and see what interestst you get. Maybe you will find someone local. If not we can talk I just purchased a ML Motiff center here and I am a serious buyer of another sub. I have a depth I just purchased and am going to try to sell my Epik Empire and get another ML sub. I am a little concerned that you have had service on it. How old would you say it is? Will keep in touch. dave
For shipping purposes I use the estimator on the page. It's always a few bucks cheaper than actual which I feel is most appropriate for the seller to absorb. With your zip it comes up $91.28. Also I see that you have feedback therefore some experience but there are a few things you can do to answer your own questions. For example using the research button I see that the i model of the Depths was released in 2008- recent enough to be more concerned about actual condition than seller stated age (which I don't know btw). A trip to the authorized shop is always a plus in a case like this where the problem was minor and you are offerred a detailed receipt. For one thing you know it's now dead quiet, sometimes an issue with subs. But you also know that I paid $70 to have it gone through and tested including frequency sweeps and all parameters are good. I'm not trying to pitch you, it will sell soon enough. I'm more like letting you know a few things a buyer can determine from your position using agon. Luck, Larry
