Selling a TLC-1. This unit is in excellent (easily 8/10) condition outside, but inside has one issue: the CD input is noisy. This leaves you with 4 SE inputs that work perfectly and your choice of buffered or passive outputs. Rating lowered to 7 for this issue. This is your chance for Class A performance for very little money.

from Stereophile's conclusion: "It may not offer the ultimate in bass drive and extension, and the Melos SHA-1 edges ahead in image palpability, but in all other respects, the McCormack TLC-1 is one of the most transparent, least colored preamplifiers I've used. With a maximum gain of just less than unity, it may not go loud enough in systems based on insensitive loudspeakers, or on amplifiers that need more than 2V to reach their maximum output levels. It will also be inappropriate for use in systems where a cassette deck or FM tuner is an oft-used source. And, of course, it doesn't have a phono stage. Neither does it offer the currently fashionable features of remote control or balanced operation. But at $995, the McCormack is astonishing value for money. Recommended. Highly recommended. If you're looking for the best sound for the dollar in line-level preamplifiers, buy a TLC-1 right now!"
