Here's a real classic and in great shape (for what they are). I'm a loudspeaker developer and found these at a an estate sale. They had been sitting idle for years because the foam surrounds were basically gone. However, the upper mid, tweeter and paper cones of each driver were pristine so I had to get them ($50 for the pair!). I sent off the drivers to Audio Classics to have the foam replaced and all drivers tested. I went through the crossovers and tested all the components and all are in spec. Well, I put them in my living room, got the new foam surrounds broke in and found out they are probably one of the most spatially correct speakers I've ever heard! Not just imaging but size of image points as well. So, I continued to use them for a reference (among others) for developing other speakers (for imaging). I can now use my own design for a reference (thanks to these) so they are taking up room now. So, if your a die hard McIntosh fan and want to go for the totally retro system, here they are. For the typical XR series used on the market they are in very nice shape. That's not to say they don't have scratches. The top of one has some scratches from when the estate seller stacked one on top of the other. Otherwise, these could be called "really good" cosmetically. Scratches are repairable. Of the XR16s out there, these are about the best you'll find. Unfortunately, I cannot ship these. It would take just too long to pack them and find suitable boxes etc. So, pick up only unless you want to pay more for shipping than the speakers (every man has his price). For a nominal fee. I'll take them down to the bay area or meet you - I'm in Sacramento, CA. Keep in mind when you buy the speakers here on Agon, they are yours and no refunds upon inspecting them at the delivery point. You are invited to come and take a look at them before buying after I talk with you on the phone. Price is about average for these but these are definitely above average. Functionally, they are a 9/10. I'll pay for the paypal fees.
