Meridian G96 Transport

Up for sale is the Meridian G96 transport - a curent model. When you hear Meridian, you can be certain about its quality. This is simply the world class CD / DVD transport by Meridian. You will be amazed by how much details this wonderful device could extract from your sources. I was pairing this fantastic transport with Xindak DAC8; I could tell you the combo is one great giant-killer - it sounds much better than many CD players that cost double or more to my ears. If you are looking for an outstanding CD transport with the option to use it in your Home Threatre system as well, this could be the excellent solution. Many HD TV's nowadays will process DVD signal directly from transport (like this one) via HDMI interconnect. The condition of the transport is next to mint (See pictures).

The G96 offers not only superb audio reproduction but also crystal-sharp, high-definition video. It plays audio CDs, MP3 CDs, Video CDs and DVD-Video discs, including the DVD side of DualDiscs, and can decode Dolby Digital, DTS, MPEG and MP3 data streams to PCM for stereo playback, meaning that a complete stereo DVD replay system can be created with the addition of a pair of Meridian DSP speakers. The G96 can output Dolby Digital, DTS, and MPEG bitstreams, making it the ideal companion for a G Series surround processor such as the G61R or G68.

The G96 includes a powerful video processor and scaler which can simultaneously provide composite and S-video outputs, plus progressive component video and up to 1080p via HDMI. It offers two composite video, one component video and three S-video inputs, all of which can be routed to any of the video outputs with appropriate scaling.

The 2 channels Electra 907 Be is almost like Micro Utopia Be for much less price. The major highlight is the Beryllium inverted dome tweeter used in the world reference Grande Utopia Be is put in this model as well. It has the luxurious finishes of the Utopia Be line with the new W cone optimised by the bass/medium 165mm and the new OPC crossover.

They are maravellous standmounters, easily one of the best sounding speakers I have ever heard. They are very musical speakers, always a pleasure to listen to. The sound is so sweet, transparent and dynamic that make listening a joy at home. I never found it fatiguing; its imaging is excellent. The superb Beryllium tweeters impart detail and airiness to the music. I enjoyed these speakers so much especially for classical and Jazz. It's silky smooth like French delicious chocolate. They are simply amazing for small to mid-size room.

The condition of the speakers are excellent. I would rate 8/10 conservatively.
