MG Audio Design, LLC is now offering to the general audiophile community one of the most neutral, transparent, detailed, and musical speaker wires on the market today- the Planus I speaker wire. Planus is the Latin word for flat, which describes the physical characteristics of our wire. Unlike other cables in the industry, we did not design this wire to have a house “sound.” Rather, we focused on minimizing capacitance, inductance, and skin-effect which inevitably color the sound of all wires.

The design is based on physics and good engineering practice, not voodoo. The result of this design is that you can hear more clearly into the musical performance, catch details you have never heard before, and better capture the emotional expression of the artist(s). The speed, detail, transparency, and micro-dynamic shading are unmatched by anything on the market today, except our other (much more expensive) speaker wire. The bass is quick, deep and tight, not flabby or bloated. The midrange is very open and articulate, not muddled. The top end is pure and sweet, not tizzy or glassy. The soundstage is deep and wide with a holographic quality. Its musical intimacy is unlike anything else you have ever heard before in a wire.

That being said, no one wire can be the “best” wire for all systems and ours is no exception. These have been used on ribbons, stats, and dynamic speakers with great success. Still Planus I may not work well in your particular system or be to your taste. They are very open and revealing, not warm or polite. Because you may not like them in your system, we are offering a 30-day money back return for standard length wires sent back in salable condition.

The introductory price of the Planus I speaker wire is $349 for a six foot pair. An 8 foot pair will cost $399 and a 10 foot pair will cost $449. These are the standard lengths we make. We can make custom lengths, but you will not be able to send them back for a refund. Colorado residents will have to pay an additional 4.9% sales tax.

But because we need to get some interest in the wire (create some buzz) and get some feedback here on Audiogon, I am offering a $100 price reduction from the list price (there goes the profit margin) this month if you will provide honest feedback about us and the wire. I will even cover the shipping costs to customers in the US. Anyone even considering spending between $500 and $10,000 for speaker wire owes it to themselves to try ours first.

Planus I WILL compete with the most costly speaker wires on the market today. The difference is that Planus I costs less than what you would pay in sales tax for many of the others. Its a great sounding wire. With the 30 day return policy, you have nothing to lose trying them out.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Questions for the seller
Do you make interconnects. I would like an eight foot pair of speakers and a matching interconnect a 14 foot pair and a six foot pair if you can make how much would it cost.
We do make interconnects- one silver and one copper both using a similar geometry to the speaker wire. Both of them are state of the art and beat anything out there that we have heard. We did a direct comparison of both of them to the Nordost Odin, the Cardas Clear Beyond, and the MIT Magnum 3.5s and ours were clearly better in speed, detail, transparency, neutrality, and sound staging. And by better I mean much better. Our Planus I speaker wire will compete with the big names and is only clearly bested by our Planus II speaker wire. These are VERY good products, the only question is whether they will fit tonally in your system. That is why we offer a 30 day money back guarantee on stock lengths, assuming they are sent back in salable condition. For the question on the 14 foot interconnect, we can make them that long, but only if they are balanced. There is too much risk of high frequency oscillation on a single ended interconnect. We will only make single ended interconnects 1.5M long (maybe 2M if you twist our arms and assure us that you do not have EMI/RF problems). We just don't want to have someone come back and tell us their tweeter burned out or amp went into oscillation because of our wire. One of the reasons we are concerned about this is that our wire has an order of magnitudes less capacitance and inductance than most other wires on the market. That is a good thing in terms of sonic performance but a bad thing if your amp is not designed to stop high frequency oscillation. An SET amp comes to mind. Instead of having long interconnect runs, we encourage people with the ability to re-configure their systems to use long speaker wire runs. In testing our wires, we find this offers the best sonic performance. You already know the cost of the speaker wire- its on special at $299 for an 8 foot pair. The interconnect lists for $500 per meter pair- $300 for the wire and $200 for terminations. Since our interconnect has not yet been introduced, I will give you a special price- $225 a meter pair plus $200 termination. That means your 14 foot pair would be $1,100 and your 6 foot (actually 2M) would be $650. Rather than going all in and buying all of this, I would buy just the speaker wire and the 2M pair of interconnect at first. That way if you don't like them for whatever reason, I will refund your money back within 30 days assuming they come back in salable condition. If you really like them, then you can order the 14 foot pair. Thank you for your interest in our wire.
