I purchased this beautiful table right here on A-Gon a couple of months ago from a seller who had several vintage MICRO SEIKI tables for sale. This one was described as New-Old Stock (NOS) and sold without a headshell. I paid $350 for the table(shipped) and another $90 for the headshell from a third party. I was hoping for a zero headache plug and play solution for my daughter. I did not open the box when the table arrived as I was waiting for the headshell. The seller requested feedback, which I provided (but he was aware that I had not yet tried it). When I did set-up the table several days later,I discovered it was actually Broken-Old-Stock. The tone-arm would not lift and the automatic functions did not work properly. I did not receive much cooperation from the seller, who at first agreed to exchange it,then ignored my emails, and finally again agreed to exchange it if I would provide additional compensation. I will not deal with this person again.
First the good news: The table is in excellent cosmetic condition (except for a several scratches on the top/left/rear of the plinth, some tape residue on the tonearm and a missing lock down piece for the tonearm). The dustcover is near mint and the hinges work properly. The table powers-up and spins quietly at the correct speed for both 33 and 45 RPM. The strobe and speed adjustments work properly.
Now for the bad: The tonearm cueing does not operate, the tonearm travels automatically across the platter, but does not lift. If I were to keep the table,I would disable the automatic function and use it as a manual table. I just do not need it.
Note: The headshell is not included in this sale, but can be added for an additional $70.
This table will ship within the continental USA in it's original box via FEDEX Ground.
