This is not the DIP Classic or the DIP Upsampler. This is the DIP 24/96. It's perfect for CD players or DVD Players. The DIP 24/96 handles 24/96 signals and passes all digital surround formats, including Dolby, AC-3 and DTS. And it includes an AC input filter that Monarchy claims blocks all external noises from the AC line. The standard signal coming out of a CD/DVD player/transport is a feeble 0.5V. When the DIP reclocks the datastream, it boosts the signal to 5V. The stronger output ameliorates some of the deficiency of the digital cable, which has to carry a very complicated signal to the DAC. I have used this on multiple cd/dvd players and with multiple DACs and in each case it made a difference. The other great thing is you can bring two separate digital sources (coaxial and toslink) and output them via coaxial or balanced to your DAC.
