Overview

The high end bookshelf speaker Focal Electra 1008 Be embodies Focal's know-how in terms of high-end compact loudspeakers. Added to the essential qualities of the 1007 Be stereo speakers, a more spacious and natural sound image, improved definition and more precise bass. The high power-handling enables it to work in rooms of big dimensions.

Focal's Electra 1008 Be features their latest 1.25" pure-beryllium, IAL inverted dome. It's mounted on a metal faceplate that curves gently back toward the sides of the speakers, in order to minimize diffraction, and is crossed over to a 6.5" midrange-woofer made of Focal's W material. W is made of multiple thin layers of glass on both sides of a central core of foam. This makes a lighter, more rigid diaphragm with excellent self-damping properties. By changing the density and the number of layers of glass and the thickness of the foam, Focal has adapted W for use in midrange drivers, woofers, and hybrid drivers, as seen in the Electra 1008 Be. Both the tweeter and midrange-woofer are made in-house by Focal and are crossed over to each other at 2.2kHz.
