FRITZSPEAKERS  -  CUSTOM BUILT LOUDSPEAKERS SINCE 1973!

ROOM ACOUSTICS.

This pair in beautiful Ribbon Mahogany has brand new drivers & crossovers installed in them.  One of the cabinets has a minor scratch on the front (Look at pictures 4 & 5) when I had a little accident while routing out the tweeter hole.  It looks worst in the pictures than it does in person.

SCANSPEAK DRIVERS WITH SERIES CROSSOVERS!

This model is a new less expensive version of my upgrade REV5 SE design and
features a ScanSpeak ring radiator tweeter that has higher frequency
extension with more air than the original ScanSpeak 9500 tweeter and
also has upgraded crossover parts.

The cabinets are in a Ribbon Mahogany
wood finish and the size is 14H x 8W x 10 1/2D.  They have a ScanSpeak
5.5 inch Revelator paper cone Mid/Bass driver with good bass response
down to 40 Hz and a ScanSpeak Ring Radiator tweeter that extends out to
above 40 KHz  These same drivers were used in several major name brand
models that cost 4 to10 times $$ more!

SERIES CROSSOVERS- Check out the impedance & phase curves on these.  Google any other loudspeaker
& see if they have a Stereophile review & look at their
impedance curves on the measurements page.  Most name brand loudspeaker
impedance curves look like a mountain range with large peaks & dips.
Loudspeakers with Series crossovers sound more natural.  My web site
has more info on why Series crossovers work and sound much better than
conventional  crossovers.

Here's some copy and paste links to reviews of the original REV 5 model, this new version is now even better sounding!

BTW-
Series crossovers actually have variable crossover points.
Conventional crossovers are basically mathematical equations that are
separately calculated based on the impedance of the drivers used in the
speaker.  When music is playing though a loudspeaker, the drivers voice
coils heat up and the impedance and other electrical parameters can
change.  A heated 8 ohm mid/bass driver coil may become 7 ohms, a 6 ohm
tweeter coil may become 8 ohms (could be higher or lower depending on
voltage & current), effectively changing the crossover points of
each driver.  The mid/bass could now roll off sooner (lower) and the
tweeter could come in later at a higher frequency... or vice versa.
This can result in an overlap or suck out between them.

With series crossovers both of the drivers are in the same circuit and the
crossover points fluctuate between the two drivers eliminating the peaks
or suck outs of conventional crossovers.
