Why I’m Selling These Beautiful Monitors:
I’m currently in process of building a number of different speaker designs. I’m an OEM and selective audio boutique dealer. However, I wanted a pair of CNC’d cabinets built by a professional speaker company (and also tested after built) to use as a reference and I chose Lee Taylor to do the build. Lee built the pair of Lumine bookshelf speakers I’m selling here and I’m now building floorstander prototypes myself to expand on this design.
I don’t have the tools to build the kind of high quality cabinets that Lee builds and instead am exploring prototypes that come close to the Lumine speaker sound quality but with much larger cheaper plywood cabinets. He uses CNC equipment and a high pressure vacuum press for applying the gorgeous veneer that he used. I use a straight edge and a powered hand saw to cut my boxes so I can’t compete. But, I can prototype designs and that’s what I’m focusing on. I’m searching for a particular set of speaker specs and am currently building a bunch of different designs. Listening to all of them is the only way to accomplish what I’m looking for.
I received these Lee Taylor built monitors a couple of months ago (July 2017) and have used them as a reference for the midrange and high frequency presentation for my future floorstanding larger designs. You cannot beat the dynamics and presentation of a small 2-Way bookshelf speaker like these, and the Scanspeak Illuminator woofer and Iluminator Tweeter are some of the best “state of the art” components available anywhere today. If you enjoy superior sound quality and don’t mind giving up the thunderous bass from larger cabinets, you will not be able to find better sounding speakers. The bass from these small cabinets is quite amazing and totally satisfying.

There is a guy in Asia that built these Lumine-2 kits (he purchased the components from Madisound) and you can do a Google search to find his Utube audio presentations. When I heard these speakers online (even though only in mp3 format), I knew that they would be incredible and they are.
Do a search using :
seas-lyd (as his user name)
LUMINE-ONE VS. BIFROST (one of his video’s names)
Using that search string, you should find him. The Bifrost he built are less detailed and sound good but the Lumine in person is absolutely insanely good!

Because I can’t afford to keep all of the speakers I’m building, I need to sell these monitors to free up some money for future builds. Consequently, whoever has an interest in purchasing a pair of stellar state-of-the-art reference monitors that would easily cost many times my selling price will receive a serious bargain.

Info About Lee Taylor’s Build For These Monitors:
My cost was $1,309.65 plus $1,200 for Lee Taylor’s time, material and cabinet build and testing plus an additional $180 for two pair of WBT-0703Cu Nextgen binding posts. Total cost is approximately $2,700+ plus shipping.
Lee Taylor ordered the Madisound 2-Way Lumine One (Scanspeak Illuminator) kit as listed on Madisound’s website. The cost of the kit parts he used is $1,309.65. Lee owns an independent audio speaker company and all of the gorgeous finished speakers you see on Madisound’s website were built by Lee.
The 2-Way Lumine One kit (Madisound) includes:
1. A pair of Scanspeak Illuminaotr 5-1/4” woofers (part # 15WU/4741T-00)
2. A pair of Scanspeak Illuminaotr 1” tweeters (part #R3004/6620)
3. A pair of assembled crossover networks built by Madisound
4. I had Lee install a pair of WBT-0703Cu Nextgen binding posts for each speaker at an additional cost of $180
The cabinet drawing from Madisound’s website is attached in the photo section.
Each speaker measures 13.5” tall by 7” wide x 9.5” deep and finished weight is 24lbs, 7oz.

Another Owner's Comments:
"I would describe the Lumine as being neutral, in the sense that it reproduces what is on the recording. Having said that, on a really good recording they are close to life-like. Detailed, transparent, smooth and crisp are adjectives I would use to describe them. I would call them bright except that in the past I have found bright speakers are fatiguing and these don't have that effect. Finally, for the music I listen to, which is mostly acoustic, they have more than adequate bass."

I realize that is an unusual and unique sales offer that you don't find very often but it does provide something of serious value. I’ve already accepted a $1,200 loss just to make this sale and is something I shouldn’t even consider. These monitors are worth several times their original raw cost.
There are no dealer or distributor markups involved (factory direct) and you could not build something like this yourself nor will you find it as an available product anywhere. It’s truly is a one time opportunity. I set my low price to make a sale and to move on to pay for new components.
