Exemplar Audio XL-1 speakers

Exemplar Audio XL-1 single driver loudspeakers. Serial numbers 001 and 002. This is the pair used at Newport 2015. I purchased them directly from John about one year ago. These are 93 db efficient with an 8 ohm load. They were originally purchased for a bedroom system, but I ended up using them as my main speakers in a $80,000 system. It's going to be difficult going back to listening with a crossover after getting used to a single driver presentation. The bass is surprisingly deep and they are very musical and easy to drive with a SET amp.
Over the years I have owned quite a bit of Exemplar Audio gear. The common thread with all of John's designs is that they are all very musical and punch above their price class. I still use all Exemplar interconnect and power chords. The XL-1 speakers are more musical than many speakers I have owned in the past. The magic is John's proprietary modifications to the drivers. You will not get stock drivers to sound this good. That's where the value comes in with John's speaker designs.
This pair has a few blemishes, but are overall in very good condition. There is a small scratch on the front of the right speaker which I took a close up photo of. Also, there is some chaffing of the finish on the outsides of both speakers. I included photos of that as well. None of the blemishes are visible until close up. I think the chaffing marks might come out with some Old English, Overall, they look good and sound great! I will pack them very carefully and double box them. The stands are not included. They are Sound Anchors and are super heavy and I'm not willing to ship them. Local buyers are welcome to come by and listen.
