There has been much written about this preamp and in all the positive reviews there's one aspect of its performance I have to reinforce: It is one of the most transparent audio devices out there. What you feed it, is what you will get out of it.

It will not tighten a systems bloated bass just as it will not extend or make fuller a system that is lean in the bass region. It will not increase your system's resolution by revealing previously hidden detail, just as it will not obscure any detail whatsoever. If your system is too laid back, this preamp will not make it more forward sounding or more exciting, just as it will not tone down and sweeten a system that is forward and bright. If your system is clean, smooth and extended on top, that is exactly what you will have after inserting this preamp. It is truly a chameleon in this regard, being more akin to a passive pre than an active line stage. The big benefit here is that you're not limited by the passives' impedance compatibility constraints that are usually manifested in weak bass response. If your system is sorted out and you're not looking for a "tone control" device to tailor the sound (to either the yin or yang), this line stage is one of the best regardless of price.
