MC58 - McIntosh Configurable Power Amplifier
In addition to 8 channels of amplification, the MC58 can also be configured for 7, 6, 5 or four channels.
It is a traditional A/B design with a very large power supply, and in my experience very conservatively rated, as most McIntosh amplifiers are. It would work well in a variety of application including Home Theater/Atmos systems, whole-house audio and my favorite (if your speakers have bi-wire terminals, bridging all channels to mono resulting in 4x 100 at 8 ohms. ) The result is very dynamic and lush.
The amplifier operates flawlessly, with Powerguard indicators lighting up by channel during the onset of an over-driven channel or channels.Although this model doesn’t have the the traditional output meters, it does have their exclusive Power Guard and Sentry Monitor protection technologies assuring distortion-free performance even when/if the amp is over-driven.
Dimensions are 17 1/16 H x 17 1/2 W x 20” deep. Net weight is 40 lbs.

Rated distortion at full power is 0.005% thd, 20 - 20Khz with a signal to noise ratio of -92dBA.
