No sub needed.Soundstage is three dimensional and the timbre and tone are incredibly musical.. Performers are in the room with you. There are four nicks that are shown in the photos, hence the "7" rating.. Overall, their presentation both visibly and audibly are beautiful!.. They are 98db and so will mate with SETS very well [as I am doing now]. I do not have the crates so either pick them up locally or I can deliver [SF bay area] for $3200, or I am willing to ship them in the lower 48 for $3700.
