This well known tube buffer has been significantly upgraded by Mike Grierson in Scotland. Last year it received new tubes, all new upgraded caps and diodes, and everything seen here: http://www.rock-grotto.co.uk/x10v3mods.htm It comes with an upgraded, outboard power supply with an on/off switch, as well as the original wall-wart supply. It also has upgraded RCA output jacks. The work was all done professionally by Mike Grierson of Rock Grotto.
The improvement was dramatic, truly, as it was quieter, with deeper bass and more holographic soundstage. The only issue is the faceplate. I did not like the cheesy decal, so I used my sander to sand it off and give a burnished aluminum look to it. I never thought I'd sell it, yet my new DAC has a tube output stage, rendering it superfluous. The 6/10 rating is because of this, yet otherwise it's an 8/10, while functionality is perfect, with zero issues. Listed price reflects original unit plus the cost of upgrades and power supply. I am the original owner.
