I just received this cartridge back from Peter over at SoundSmith, and I had him to perform a Level Two Rebuild which includes the Ruby Cantilever & Nude Contact Line Diamond at the cost of $262.00. This unit is like new, very clean with zero hours on the needle. Item includes all the paper work SoundSmith sent me.
The most obvious characteristic of this cartridge is how VERY smooth sounding straight out of the box this baby is. The high frequency band is extremely easy to listen to. The Kontrapunkt B has a synergy that goes well beyond it price tag and gives every performance a polished and enthralling realism. The cartridge does not only excel in only one area at the expense of others but is an all-round star performer in its own right, and the sound stage is wide and forthcoming. The cartridge has great imaging and a wide dynamic range that I have not heard in any sub $1,000.00 cartridge. Actually, the Kontrapunkt B is sold on Ebay for $1,000+.
