These headphones have a pleasant, warm sound which makes them easy to listen to for extended periods. They have a gorgeous midrange and deep, extended bass. I find them to be very comfortable. They’re fairly easy to drive, although they will sound better with a good headphone amplifier. The K-701s were rated as Class A by Stereophile for several years, until October 2010. I bought this pair when the model was first released. I haven’t listened to them much in the past 8 years, so they're still in very good condition. The original ear pads had deteriorated with age, so I recently purchased a new pair. I have not used the new ones, so the buyer will be getting these headphones with brand new ear pads. I have accumulated too many headphones over the years, so it’s time for this pair to go to someone who will appreciate them.
