HiFiMan HE1000 planar magnetic headphones in as new condition. Purchased new in March 2017. Includes all original accessories including the eighth inch, quarter inch, and balanced headphone cables, owners manual and presentation box with plastic still on the metal cover. The headphones show absolutely no sign of wear and really are closer to a 10/10 with around 75 hours total use. The balanced cable has a 1/4" fray on one side of the cloth jacket surrounding the cable and isn't noticeable unless closely inspected, so this one cable is more like an 8/10. All other cables, manual, and presentation box are in as new condition.
In addition I am including the HiFiMan HE Adapter which allows the headphones to be used balanced with a standard stereo amplifier via the speaker terminals. I tried a number of dedicated headphone amps and ended up using the HE Adapter exclusively. Incredible state of the art cans offering the detailed, cohesive sound planar magnetic headphones are known for, but taken to another level with the HE1000. Plenty of reviews on line.
As always PayPal is included in my pricing. Please see my feedback regarding packing and shipping. I take it very seriously. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking.

How do they compare to the Focal Utopias? Hi Martin. I had a chance to compare the HiFiMan HE1000, HE1000 V2, Focal Elear, and Focal Utopias at the same time at Axpona last year in Chicago. I had just purchased my 1000's and wanted to compare them to those mentioned. Compared to the HE1000 V2's I couldn't tell much of a difference at all so I sort of dismissed the V2's. Then I compared to the Focal Elears which I was strongly considering purchasing but I found them just a little too full and warm and didn't have the detail retrieval I was expecting. Then I compared the Utopias and I thought they were great, I was hoping the Elears had been a little more like the Utopias but ultimately I prefer the HE1000's simply because of the planar magnetic qualities versus the dynamic speaker qualities of the Utopias. Don't get me wrong the Utopias are great and beautiful looking headphones but I prefer the slightly more natural detail retrieval and spaciousness of the HE1000's versus the in the head, sharper sound of the Utopias. Comfort wise they were pretty similar but I ultimately preferred the HE1000's with the bigger ear pads. Plus they just felt lighter on my head than the Utopias. Keep in mind my comments were based on listening for about 10 to 15 minutes with each set of cans but I did listen with the same amplifier (though I can't remember specifically which amp it was). I also had the chance to listen to the Hifiman electrostatic headphones and dedicated tube amp and thought that was pretty phenomenal but not for the $50,000!!! price of the system. Headphone are a very personal type of listening experience and little things can either go a long way towards loving them or hating them, more so than say a typical speaker, so finding the right ones has always been important to me. BTW when you listen to the cohesiveness, natural timber/tone and detail retrieval of either the Hifiaman or Utopias it can make regular speakers sound downright broken. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks. Don Adams |
Just curious Don, whay are you selling them? Hi Scott. Late 2016 I had to move and didn’t have the space to set up my system, hence my involvement with headphones. I now have a dedicated listening room again and this will help fund my new speaker purchase I’m eyeballing. The planar magnetic qualities of the HE1000’s has me wanting to experiment with electrostatic speakers. Though I haven’t listened to them much since getting my system up and running over the last couple of months I’m a little hesitant to sell them. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for your interest. Don |
