Excellent phono preamp and head amp (stepup for moving coil cartridge) hand built by Jim Hagerman.
From Jim on the kickstarter campaign: "The Cornet3 is a radical evolution of the highly acclaimed circuit I developed and introduced about
a dozen years ago. If you are seeking top-notch electronics to bring out the best in your
turntable and vinyl collection, look no further. For those of you with moving coil cartridges, I
am including the Piccolo2, a re-designed active head-amp with up to 26dB gain, built into a matching
enclosure...
...you would
have to spend well over $2000 to get the equivalent performance from anyone else in the industry.
That makes the Cornet3 and Piccolo2 incredible bargains."
The Cornet3 delivers high performance on a budget. The circuit
topology features common cathode class-A gain stages with no feedback,
passive equalization, and cathode follower output buffers with constant
current sink loading. Power is supplied by a regulated wall-wart driving
a boost converter (running at about 50kHz) to generate the high voltage
rail required for proper tube biasing.

The Piccolo is an MC headamp that provides a linear pre-gain for your
MM phonostage. The active circuitry uses low noise matched discrete
JFETs in a no-feedback gain and buffer configuration, offering very low
noise and distortion. The sound is extremely neutral leaving no sonic
signature. Both loading and gain are adjustable, providing extreme
flexibility.
