For sale is my vintage Linn LK1 preamplifier. Pulled from my working system, it is in excellent working condition. A few minor scuffs and scratches but both channels are clean and clear with no hum, buzz, noise, or distortion. All display/function LEDs on the LK1 preamp are working correctly. 115V
Sound quality is exceptional this is iconic British Flat Earth Hi-Fi. As good or better than early Naim, Quad, or Exposure gear from the same era.
First and foremost this early Linn LK1 uses XLR connectors for the amplifier and preamplifier inputs except for tape 1 and tape 2. These are NOT BALANCED connections. Using XLR connectors with other brands of audio gear that are wired for balanced operation can lead to serious damage so beware when purchasing these pieces and trying to integrate them with other brands of equipment. Cable choice and proper wiring are VERY IMPORTANT. The amplifier outputs on the LK1 use XLR plugs but they are wired in single ended fashion. The wiring diagram is on the rear of the unit.
All internal components are clean with no burned or cracked resistors, transistors, etc. on both the preamp and amplifier. The preamp is serial number 104307 from approximately 1987.
The LK1 is definitely a great British product. Vinyl playback is rated as good or very close to the later Karin digging down deep and exposing your records for all they are worth.
Selling my LK1. Sounds clean and is in good condition. Please note photos and condition description. There is no hum, the amplifier sounds VERY clean. It is from my working system.
