This two-chassis phono preamp was professionally built (not by me) with the original Pass Labs PCBs, based on a design on the Pass Labs DIY/First Watt website by Wayne Colburn of Pass Labs. This is essentially a DIY, moving magnet only version of the Pass Labs XONO phono preamp. Originally specified components were used, along with silver bearing solder and some improvements on certain points within the preamp:
-Schottky rectifier diodes
-high current Avel Lindberg 120VAC primary toroidal transformer
-Auricap output (coupling) capacitors
-Vishay bulk foil, Caddock, AN tantalum, Holco, and Beyschlag metal film resistors
-high quality RCA non magnetic gold-plated RCA jacks
-internal Kimber wiring
The PCBs for the phono preamp were put in one box, the power supply in another, they connect to each other via an umbilical cord (included). IEC socket to use the power cord of your choice. Both boxes are aluminum.
It's relatively plain looks belie its great sound. Gain is about 43db (good for MM or medium output MC cartridge). For more information visit the Pass DIY website for the schematic and article. Serious inquiries only please.
