Pioneer DV-AX10 NIB! SACD DVD-A CD DVD Player Complete, WOW!!

Offered for sale is one beautiful BRAND NEW IN THE BOX Pioneer DVD-AX10 SACD/DVD-A/DVD/CD player. This sample has never been used and is particularly special. This is your chance to own a unique piece of audio history (read on for why)!

I could go on and on about this unit, but if you are looking at it, you already know what it does, how it sounds and why you want it. This model player was said to be one of J. Gordon Holt's favorites. You can find lots of information, Stereophile's and other reviews about this beauty with an easy Google search.

But what's so special about this particular one? This sample used to belong to Gary Hawkins, founder of Digital Ear, in Tustin, CA. I was Gary and Wanda Hawkins' first employee, and I helped "Didge" (as we affectionately called the place) grow from a small CD-only retailer to one of the most-respected high-end audio retailers in the United States. I left Digital Ear long ago, but I kept in touch with Gary and Wanda afterward.

Sadly, Gary has passed away, and I now have the unhappy honor of offering some of his favorite pieces to you. He never got to use this player, but now you can, and what a cool thing to know that this player once belonged to one of the most respected people in the audio business and one of the first people to ever sell a CD at retail!

I agonized over even taking the unit out of the box at all, but then decided that it would be a good idea to inspect it and also to be sure that it was working correctly. It's been in its box for a long time, and nothing would be more disappointing than to get a beautiful (and expensive) paperweight that needs service.

I only have DVDs and CDs and don't own any SACDs. But the player works perfectly with the software that I do have and there's no reason to think anything would be different with an SACD. The picture on this beauty is amazing, and the sonics are absolutely wonderful. Wow. And the disc drawer.... so cool! Slow, deliberate, very sexy.

MADE IN JAPAN. This unit is complete with manual, remote, all accessories (of course it's complete, it's NEW!).
