The DV-38A is a top of the line DVD player that retailed for $2000. Due to extensive isolation employed in this machine, it makes a great transport. Audio Revolution reported "The DV-38A weighs in at a fairly hefty 22 pounds. The construction of the unit is very solid, utlizing a triple-layered chassis and three chambers to isolate the various internal sections. The copper used for the isolation material adds to the unit’s rigidity, as well as isolating potential interference between different sections of the player."
The build construction and engineering of this deck is not surprising, as a $2000 DVD should have both acoustic and electro-magnetic damping.
Visually the player is excellent, with a clean face and only minor stacking scratches on top from the D/A converter. The player has Rosewood side panels and is substantial and elegant. I am conservatively rating it a 7.
