Original Owner of these Planar Ribbon Hybrid Speakers.  Speakers are in Very Good condition.  Speakers Treated with Respect, not abused.  Looking for Local Pickup and audition.

BG, the world leader in planar ribbon loudspeaker technology, announces two exciting new models from its critically-acclaimed Z-Series. The three-way  oorstanding Z-92 ($1249.50 ea. MSRP)

Re ecting BG’s latest design technology, both models utilize an advanced three-way design with unique, coaxially-mounted mid and high frequency planar ribbon drivers. This unique approach delivers an ideal solution for accurate sound reproduction with  exibility in placement. The driver’s wide yet controlled dispersion is especially critical for center channel applications to ensure smooth, even coverage for all listeners.

Complementing the three-way design are twin 6.5” black aluminum cone woofers featuring double-gap motors and neodymium magnets. This high performance design delivers high power handling, excellent dynamics and tight, clean bass to rival the amazing clarity of BG’s innovative planar ribbon driver.

> Patented planar-ribbon drivers provide amazing detail and lifelike clarity

> Aluminum woofer cones provide quick response and compatible resolution > Patented double-gap motor technology provides much lower distortion

> Lifetime parts and labor warranty

My speakers are a light maple color, not black ,  Below info is from review

Design

The BG Corp Z-92s are floor standing speakers just under 4 feet tall with the included spikes. The speakers are a 3-way design with anodized black aluminum 6.5″ low mass woofers in their own separate enclosure. BG Corp claims that these woofers have redesigned voice coils and motors to reduce the mass from the previous design and allow the speed of the new woofers to more closely match the speed of the planar-ribbon midrange and planar-ribbon tweeter.

The planar-ribbon drivers are very thin and light weight diaphragms that are printed with an aluminum conductor overlay and these diaphragms are suspended between two very powerful magnetic assemblies in the front and rear of the suspended printed diaphragms. Therefore, the midrange and tweeter drivers are push-pull devices and completely under the control of the amp at all times. The planar-ribbon tweeter is mounted directly in front of the planar-ribbon midrange.

I assume this configuration is to maintain proper phase coherence and as close to a point source as possible.

Close-up of midrange and tweeter planar-ribbon drivers

The two 6.5″ aluminum bass drivers are in their own ported enclosure and cross over to the planar-ribbon midrange at 500Hz and the planar-ribbon midrange crosses at 2.3 kHz to the planar-ribbon tweeter.

The Z-92s are available in a real wood finish of either maple or black ash. They are furnished with rubber feet or metal spikes. I only used the metal spikes on my carpeted media room floor and all listening was done with the spikes in place. They also can be bi-wired by removing the gold-plated jumpers on the back of the speakers.

Questions for the seller
It is not entirely clear: are you open to shipping them? And considering the reputation of the ribbon tweeters; is listening to, let's say, Ben Webster or Furtwangler enjoyable thru these speakers - meaning are they forgiving though revealing?
Yes I'm willing to ship them. They are heavy but I found the original boxes and packing. They are much smoother and easyer to drive than the Apogee ribbons I had in the past. They can be bright if you are using something like a Dennon receiver but sound beautiful on an old nad Rotel or Krell amp I have. I am reluctant to sell them. It is a unique speaker from a unique company for around a grand nothing will come close. Bass is very tight and fast. Midrange and treble very revealing an holographic. In many ways it is a typical ribbon sound but is not a dipole speaker so sound only comes out of the front. In ways it it good since placement is not so critical as a tall panel ribbon speaker.
Thanks for the detailed answer. It is good to know that you can ship them. But my second question remains. The drivability was never my concern since I have good amplifications. I have many recordings I enjoy but are old or not necessarily recorded in optimum sound. Many of the high-end equipment reveals the flaws too ruthlessly the listening to those recordings becomes unbearable to unenjoyable. But there are some equipment lets the listening enjoyable while still revealing all. I want to know which category your speakers fall into. Best regards.
I have a lot of old recordings on real to real that have a lot of tape hiss on them but they are still listenable it does not make them any worse. they do well with old analog recordings. I have some Peter Paul and Mary and old Jazz recording on LP that sound great. The real problem lies on Digital recordings done in the early 90's that were done very poorly sound very grainy and hash. I have to say of all the things Piano sounds phenomenal on ribbons and these speakers alike. I play piano and nothing does justice to the instrument like ribbon planar or electrostatic, In general, Ribbon and Planar drivers are not as forgiving as cone , and that is true with these speakers as well but they are more forgiving than most ribbon speakers i have owned in the past.
