Questions for the seller
Good Morning, Could you please tell me what series of Magneplanars you were using these with prior to switching to the 3.7i? What size room were they in? I currently have 1.7i and am considering adding a DWM but do not have the option of auditioning one. I'd like to know if you were using it with 'full-range' Magnepans and whether you found it to be a valuable addition in terms of bass impact in a small-ish room.
Sure, I bought this DWM when I was using a pair of modified 1.6s. I actually bought two of them, and I'm still using one of them for my center channel. This one was purely for low-mid bass accentuation. I don't think my acoustics (room is wider then deep) made for a good use of it with my 3.7is doing the heavy lifting. I've heard of great performance with a deeper than wider room and butting them up against the side wall. Not sure about room size, my room is very large (18x18). I heard one at my local audio shop, which is wide open, paired with some of the bookshelf Maggies and it blew my mind on how well it rounded out the deep notes. I would ensure that you have good power too, they're power hogs. The audio shop was using a Bryston amp, maybe that helped them as well, I was using a Marantz MA-700 and an Emotiva XPA-2, and neither sounded as good as the Bryston, but that may have been room acoustics too. Hope that helps.
