Magnepan MG-1.6qr Planar Speaker

I hate to do this, I really do - I've owned various models of Magnepan speakers continuously for over 25 years. However, setting up a functional woodworking shop is an expensive proposition and sacrifices must be made.
So what I'm reluctantly selling is a MODIFIED pair of the legendary Magnepan 1.6QR planar speakers of which I am the second owner. The modification, as can be seen in the pictures, involves installation of a separate upgraded crossover in an external wooden box. The new crossover is a stark contrast to the manufacturer internal crossover that, frankly, looked like a Radio Shack home project gone wrong. The new crossover was manufactured by Skiing Ninja (yes...you read that right) using premium quality components, and was subsequently highly reviewed by Jeff Dorgay in TONEAudio (online). Skiing Ninja is no longer producing crossovers due to his family health issues. I built the external crossover boxes myself and used WBT heavy lug speaker cable connections.
The speaker socks are new. It must be noted that one of the speakers does have stripped out lower nuts for both speaker feet. However, the speaker is able to stand correctly, so I decided not to attempt a repair before selling. 
These speakers are thin, but they are suprisingly heavy. Consequently, I greatly prefer that this be a local sale in which the buyer can come and pick them up. Any shipping of these speakers I agree to will involve my woodworking skills to build wooden boxes for each one (I've seen the factory speaker boxes, and the speakers within, damaged in transit). The cost of box construction (pine boards and plywood) will be incorporated into the shipping cost.
I will miss these greatly.
