Magnepan MMG -Sound good-Look decent-Priced accordingly.

I repaired these guys about 2 years ago using water-based contact cement. While the socks were off, I performed what is often called in the world of Magnepan mods, a "half-razor" which consists of adhering strips of Dynamat over the seam between the speaker wire panel and the outside panel. To further secure the panels to the frame, I used black Gorilla gaffer tape which also hides the shiny Dynamat. The half-razor made a noticeable improvement particularly in the bass.

Wood trim is in nice condition, lightly sanded and refinished. Due to the nature of the repairs to the panels, for aesthetic reasons , you would not want to run these without the socks.
The socks are in decent condition except for a bit of fraying at the bottom which is not apparent unless you are eyeball to eyeball. There are two small holes in the cloth on the upper corner of one speaker- see photo.

My reason for selling is that I recently acquired Magnepan .7s. But my wife, with the golden ears, greatly prefers the MMG's to the .7's. So, If this listing doesn't sell, I may keep 'em and sell the .7's instead. Our listening room is small so either model works. And, of course, there's the issue of domestic tranquility for me to factor in. Some of you married guys know what I'm talking about. :)

I have 100% positive feedback on eBay and the same on Audiogon. Unfortunately, I do not have the original boxes so a local sale is preferred. However, I would be happy to pack and ship if buyer is willing to pay for shipping which will run about eighty-five bucks including packing materials.
