This is a beautiful pair of upgraded quad ESL57s from 1979 They have upgraded cardas binding posts, upgraded AC cords with magnetic shields, the burlap has been removed to allow to pure sonic bliss.
A passive tweeter has been installed - but is optional as it simply plugs in using banana plugs to the upgraded Cardas binding posts. I prefer the added top end, but they are not necessary.
Custom made legs have been installed to position the height at a perfect listening hight - slighter taller than original..
These, while retaining their original panels, play very easily and loud. I've had the ability to compare them to another set of restored 57s - and using an SPL meter - these are definitely less sterile than a new set of panels, and play only 1-2 db quieter than a newly restored set of panels.
I drive them with a Mc240 and they are simply fabulous.
I have quotes for palleted freight at approx. 350$ for the pair to almost anywhere in the US. They are big/heavy - would prefer local pickup -
