This well taken care of vintage preamp has been in my family since it was purchased in the early 1970's. My wife and I are proud to be the third generation to have cared for this classic preamp and we have enjoyed the sound that it produces in conjunction with our other Macintosh components. This preamp has alway been in a non-smoking, no-pet home.
The front face plate of the preamp is in perfect condition. The only "scratch" is the social security number engraved (when new) on the left side of the aluminum trim. Obviously this was done for security (see photo).
Vintage McIntosh components are known for their incomparable build quality, design,
parts quality, attention to detail, craftsmanship and performance, and this is
no exception. It sounds very nice, open, detailed, natural, transparent,
dynamic, extended, smooth and musical.
Ships with Panloc brackets, original box and original packing materials. Shipping weight, properly boxed, will be close to 50 lbs.

Questions for the seller |
---|
Are all of the power outlets, on the back missing? All of the outlets are there, although they it may not be apparent to you from the photo since they are the older 2 prong type. I'll try to post the page with the block diagram from the Owner's Manual that shows the location and function of the AC Line outputs (from HiFiEngine.com). |
HELLO
does it work, no where in the listing does it say it,all lamps light, all function work phono, aux, equil sound from the two channels any rust on metal chassis, any bubbles on glass,do you know if the unit was ever serviced in its life time will you triple box for shipping, thanks, bill My wife inherited the McIntosh equipment from her Uncle, who was a classical music lover and university professor who taught, among other things, audio production. I personally hooked up the preamp to my system to try it out (Krell tuner, Thorens turntable & Musical Fidelity CD player). It sounded great! As you can see in the photos, the exterior is in excellent shape. I have not opened the case. I am not aware of this unit ever having been serviced, but if it was, it would have been by the most reputable technicians. My wife’s uncle personally drove to U.S. manufacturers, back in the day, and waited while his components were cleaned and serviced.
Also note that we listened to the other listed McIntosh components in the same way. All of it sounds wonderful.
