ProAc Response 3.5 Loudspeaker

I am offering my beloved pair of ProAc 3.5 loudspeakers. I have recently acquired a pair of Wilson Maxx’s 2, so I need to sell the 3.5’s. As you can see in the pictures, they are finished in beautiful English Yew wood. I want to point out that the color of the speakers is a bit lighter then in the pictures. The veneering is all matched grain and are fine examples of veneering as art work. As typical of Yew wood there has been some fading. Please note this is only evident when the grill covers are off of the speakers. With the grill covers on the fading is a non-issue and I think you will be hard pressed to distinguish any sonic difference. I have rated the speakers at 8 out of 10 due to the fading, a few surface scratches, and a thin crack in one of the knots. The scratches are very light and are not visible unless you are within a few inches of the speakers. The 3.5‘s have been in smoke free and pet free environment and the wood has been oiled monthly. I am the original owner and have enjoyed the 3.5’s every time I sit down to listen to music. The 3.5’s were very highly rated by Sterophile for their magnificent mid-range, coherence from top to bottom, and the ability to image and soundstage with the best in the industry. In my room the 3.5‘s produced taunt, tuneful bass that has been measured flat down to 35 hertz. Yet, I truly had know idea just how good the 3.5’s really were until I got the Maxx’s 2. No, the bass of the Maxx’s is an entirely different thing, running down to about 20 hertz in my room. But the ProAc’s give away little in the mid-range and imaging. For the money the 3.5’s are hard to beat. If you have ever considered owning a really good speaker at an affordable price this is the one to put on your short list.
