These 5R4GY challenge the "Holy Grail" of rectifiers, the original Western Electric 274 A & B
This particular version features low noise, even when compared to the WE.
These tubes can dramatically improve the signal quality of Chinese made amplifiers using the current production Chinese 274B , no matter what you pay for them. I have a current production Chinese, 300B output integrated, which I modified. The mod with the most bang for the buck is simply inserting this $100 tube for the Chinese current production 274B. If your amp calls for a 12AX7 input replace them with 12AT7. Everybody readily agrees the 12AT7 is the much better choice, but they have thousands of chassis already stamped 12AX7.
