Magnum Dynalab MD-208

Stereophile Class A Receiver in nice used condition.

This unit just got back from Magnum Dynalab where it was brought to spec for the next lucky owner. It comes with a remote, original manual, and an upgraded Wattgate 350 power cord. A couple of small scratches on one side of the unit (pictured), otherwise this unit is in nice shape. There is a small pit mark on one of the knobs but this is only noticeable from very close in. Remote shows signs of use that is normal for equipment of this age. Internally this unit is good as new given the updates from Magnum Dynalab. I have the box and packaging from Magnum Dynalab that will be used for shipping. I will also provide an extra cryo fuse that I have along with the user manual/brochure. The Magnum Dynalab MD 208 Discrete Audio made in Canada receiver is a no-compromise high-end design. There is a sweetness and grace to the MD 208's laid-back style of music reproduction—smooth and refined, though not without guts and gusto.

The Magnum Dynalab's output stage mirrors its tuner's dulcet, maple-glazed character with a warm, open presentation that struck me as a happy balance between tube-like euphony and solid-state detail. I keep hearing the word "lush" when grasping for adjectives, but I don't want to suggest anything opaque about the sound: it was very clear and extended on top while adding no bite of its own.

The MD 208 is warm and open, refined and extended, punchy and polite. The MD 208 is a high-current device and offers 100 watts of power, remote volume, balance and input controls, and a world-class tuner so good it compels you to listen to FM. It offers a lot of bang for the buck!
