For Sale one of the rarest Scott tube integrated amps, the LK72A rated at 35 watts per channel.
The unit has new tube ceramic sockets for the 8 pin tubes, all new JJ can filter capacitors.
The neg bias selenium rectifier replaced with a bridge rectifier and all new filter caps. The original can cap is still in place on the chassis, resistance adjusted for the bias and DC heaters due to the more efficient bridge rectifier.
All the other electrolytic caps under the chassis have also been replaced.
All the coupling caps in the main power section replaced with PIO K42 .
Phono section caps replaced with Auricaps and K40 PIO. The preamp section also has PIO K42 caps.
Some of the small ceramic caps replaced with 500v silver mica. Resistors replaced where needed replaced with Kiwame 2W, PRP audio resistors and metal oxide’s.
The power tubes now have 10 ohm resistors on each tube’s cathode connected to ground and pin jacks installed on the chassis to check the bias on each tube.
2 bias pots have been installed similar to the LK72B model so each pair of power tubes can be now biased.
The rca jacks at the back of the chassis have been replaced along with binding posts for the speaker terminals with the 4 and 8 ohm taps connected. The centre channel wiring has been removed.
4 new JJ 7591 power tubes
New Shuguang 5AR4 rectifier tube
2 RCA black plate 7199 tubes
1 north American 12 ax7 and 1 made in Holland-branded Hammond 12ax7-Phono stage
Pair of Russian branded Jolida 12ax7. All tubes test good.
It comes with a copy of the schematic which is almost impossible to find this model with the 7199 tubes.
The amp sounds absolutely marvelous, at idle there just a slight hum, can only be heard with your ear right up to the speaker.
The front face is not perfect as there are a few nicks and some scratches mainly in the bottom corner.
The old cracked original brown knobs have been replaced with new Marshall knobs which really look nice on this faceplate. The chassis and transformers all look good with no rust. The unit also is missing a metal cover over the control pots, these can be found sometimes on ebay.
Normally these amps are worth in the $700-$900 range.
I have listed this one at $500, due to the missing cover and the faceplate not being 100%, but still a very nice amplifier.
