This record contains Decca/Londons’s most daring ventures into contemporary orchestral and chamber music in the early stereo era. The Searle is a twelve tone symphonic canvas that is difficult to follow but worth the effort. My favorite is the Elegy for Violla and Small Orchestra. All these works were written in the 1950’s and the performances are superb.
Recorded in January, 1960 in Kingsway Hall.
