Hello,

I may be interested in trading for a Planar speaker such as a Magnepan or Martin Logan. Let me know what you have.

I invite you if you're in the Detroit Metro area to come by with your favorite CD or piece of vinyl to hear the incredible Silverline SR11s that I have. I loved the sound of these speakers the minute I heard them. So incredibly open, detailed, uncolored and accurate. I'm positive you'll agree.

I called Mr. Alan Yun the creator for the Silverline brand and asked him what a good tweeter upgrade might be. He told me that the ScanSpeak 9500s (used in the Wilson, Proac lines just to name a few) would really make them sing - so I bought a pair from Madisound.com ($300) and installed them along with Mr. Yun’s crossover modification recommendations. I used AudioCaps and Mills resistors upgrading from the generic components that were stock.

All I can say is “Wow!". What a huge difference in high frequency detail, air and imaging. The stock tweeters were good but this took them to a whole other level. When I was in the cabinet I also added some vinyl dampening to the sides and bottom, cleaned up the solder connections on the binding posts and installed
T-Nuts on the woofers. The stock wood screws didn’t hold the woofer in very tight. This upgrade alone gave the speakers a noticeable quickness improvement.

To me these speakers don’t get in the way of themselves. What I mean by that is you don’t hear speakers, you hear music. They are so ‘fast’ sounding almost like a good electrostatic speaker. Bass is surprisingly good, too. They fill my 18’ by 14’, no problem. They’re great with tubes and SS amps. I’m running them with 18 WPC of tube power and they just disappear into the soundstage.

The condition is not perfect. They have a few small nicks. I’m sure they could be touched up with some automotive paint or something. Nothing too bad. They look stunning from the listening position.

I installed the spikes on the bottom to improve imaging and bass response, which they did. They are included. You can use them or I’ll include some stick-on rubber feet as well.

I have the original boxes but will double box just to be safe. I can sell the stands that were designed for the SR17 that they look nice on for an additional $150 shipped if interested. I’ll break them down and empty the sand to make them easy to ship. They’re not metal, they’re wood top and bottom with some sort of composite pillars. They are very solid and work well. Comes with unused, perfect condition grills.

Who am I? I'm a 39 year old Audio Visual repair person that's been in the industry since I was able to drive. I build audio for myself and friends all the time and do quality work so no worries on craftsmanship. I have references, too.

I've seen these sell used from around $700 to $800. I have put in about $400 in upgrades. They're a very good value. My price includes PayPal fees and FedEx Ground shipping with insurance. A USPS Postal Money Order is also accepted. I can ship within 24 hours in most cases.

Let me know if you have any questions.
