darTZeel NHB-18 NS

For sale is my personal 18NS. I'm the original owner and I'm also a DarTZeel dealer.

I also own the 108 and I'm only selling because I decided to pull the trigger and get the 18NS MK2

This is a legendary machine which bridges the gap between tubes and solid state. Amongst the finest pre-amps available. I know of nothing that comes close at this asking price. Transparency, resolution, purity, musicality, staging, etc. are fantastic. That could be why this has been Michael Fremer's reference pre-amp for many years.

Last year, I noticed a bit of liquid leaking out of the bottom right of the pre-amp (you can see the discoloration in that small area in the picture). I opened up the top cover and noticed that 1 battery was leaking a bit. A bit of fluid (acid) was sitting on the bottom right of the chassis nowhere near any of the boards/circuitry (there is nothing under the batteries-No circuitry). The batteries were about 6 years old. I replaced the batteries in Sept 2016. I would suggest that the batteries be replaced around every 3-4 years. This is easy to do (comes with instructions) and cost is low. I believe the batteries cost about $75.

I'm not sure how the battery life is since I use the AC mode. I noticed very little difference between battery and AC. That's because the AC signal is filtered through the batteries in AC mode. I hear no difference between batteries and AC going through my power conditioner.

Other than what I described above, the unit is in excellent shape. Faceplate is beautiful.
