Undeniably one of the best sounding amplifier that PS Audio has ever made. This amplifier is dynamic yet smooth. Its power is rated per channel at 200 watts to 8 ohms, 400 watts to 4 ohms, 800 watts to 2 ohms and 1000 watts to 1.5 ohms. Just looking at this amplifier, it looks very good for its age, General appearance is a 7, very good front plate, looking front, rear, top bottom, every angle, there are few minor scratches, so I'm calling it a "6". Stereophile rates this a "Class A" category product, That says that Stereophile considered this among the very best that money could buy, regardless of cost. Below are a few cuts from this review from 1985 when this amplifier was released: "The 200C rivals the best tube amplifiers in smoothness and musical liquidity in its upper octaves" "Superb Power and Control with Dynamic rather than tight or reticent Bass" "Mid Range Performance of only the best amps from Conrad Johnson or Audio Research" "Remarkable Transparency, the 200C provides the illusion of sitting in an actual hall" Everything works fine as designed on this amp! Install it an enjoy.
This amp works wonderfully and has been fine for me. When I bought it, it was missing a foot and another foot was chewed up, so I opened it and replaced all 4 feet with identical feet that were on it previously. While in there I looked around. This amp is very clean, but I noticed a couple of parts replaced so I can say that this amplifier has been repaired before. I've owned this amp for about a year and have put about 500 hours of music through it without issue. . This amplifier weighs about 70lbs or 75 when packaged, Shipping is Very expensive and it is included in my price. As well as Paypal fees. So no hidden fees or surprises.
Questions for the seller |
---|
I noticed ac and dc inputs on back for preamp connections. I have a solid state preamp. Which inputs would I use or does it not matter. thanks DC coupled is the way that got all the fabulous reviews, I haven't even tried the AC input, I went strictly for Sound Quality. I've had zero problems with this amp. |
