Audio Research VT-100 mkIII Original MKIII, with boxes.

With the VT-100MKIII Audio Research nailed it again-another sweet and musical Tube Amp.
Comments on the character of the VT-100MKIII include: "Tube Resolution and dynamics are startlingly better: suddenly you can pick out each individual voice in a choir, you can hear the air gently modulated by a hundred diaphragms singing in unison in a great cathedral. Small and large details stand out in bolder relief, tightly focused, wonderfully holographic. Bass is tighter and more dynamic. It sounds as though the power has been increased, with a more effortless quality."
Disclosures: The faceplate and handles look like they came out of the factory. As per photo's, top front right corner of cage top and a side panel have inconsequential touch-ups. Tubes hold bias and are musically fine. I don't know the hours. Bias carefully-I blew a fuse on my first attempt. Rated conservatively at 7/10. IMO they hold great value: Sonically the VT-100MKIII is 95% of the Ref 110 and 90% of a Ref 150, but under 50% of their cost.
