Aragon 2004 Dual Mono Power Amplifier - IOB - Excellent Condition!

Up for grabs is an exceptionally clean Aragon 2004 power amplifier.

This amplifier was designed by Dan D'Agostino (founder and chief designer of Krell). It has often been called the "poor man's Krell" in audio reviews.  It should be called the "smart man's Krell", because it shares the Krell's infatuating detailed highs, smooth mid-range, and deep, tight bass at a small fraction of the cost.     The elegant design with the distinctive V-groove heat-sinking has won this amplifier many accolades for aesthetics that match the sonics in terms of understated beauty.    This is a true audiophile amp with excellent sonics.  It sounds much smoother and tube-like than most solid state amps at this price point.
 
If you have reasonably efficient speakers (>87db), and don't need the extra power that its bigger siblings (the 4004 and 8008) provide, the 2004 will actually sound better due to the reduced stress on the power supply, and shorter signal path.

From the Aragon web site: To create one of the world's most acclaimed amplifiers requires more than brute power, it requires refined sound.  To achieve that goal requires a no compromise approach to parts selection and circuit design.  The circuitry, construction and components of the 2004 are the same as found in the 4004 model.  A quad array transistor package is utilized in the pre driver stage, yielding matched transistors and equal temperature coefficients.  The output transistors are matched to over 30 categories, more stringent than any other audio manufacturer.     The 100 watt per channel power supply is larger than any other 200 watt amplifier in the 2004's class.  The torodial power transformer is annealed in nitrogen.  The steel of the transformer core is selected by grain structure.  Gold plated connectors from Tiffany are used for the inputs.  The output connectors are by Monster Cable.     Circuit heat dissipation is by convection via the distinctive "V" notch in the top of the chassis.  This unique design allows for proper cooling even when a shelf or component is placed on to of an Aragon amplifier. The 2004 amplifier was part of the first generation of Aragon amplifiers.     This amplifier shared many qualities with the more powerful 4004 except at half the power; delivering 200-watts per channel at 4 ohms, and 100-watts per channel at 8 ohms.  The wattage rating at the 4 ohm speaker load lead to the designation of "2004".
