This excellent Bryston 4B amplifier has recently been professionally inspected and had a new power cord installed (see pic of receipt). The tech who serviced the amp said, "This is best made amp I have ever seen."

Current delivery: 16A continuous, 48A peak, per channel. Frequency response: 1Hz–100kHz, ±3dB for 1W output. S/N Ratio: hum and noise, 108dB below rated output, 90dB IHF. Input sensitivity: 1.4V for 250Wpc into 8 ohms. Voltage gain: 30dB. THD+noise: 20Hz–20kHz, 0.01%. IM distortion (60Hz+7kHz, 4:1, SMPTE method): less than 0.01% at rated power. Damping factor: greater than 500 at 20Hz, at 8 ohms (equivalent to an output impedance of less than 0.016 ohms). Input impedance: 50k ohms unbalanced, 30k ohms balanced. Polarity: non-inverting.

| Here is my best response to questions about the warranty: Bryston has likely the best warranty in the business, a full twenty (20) years! As with any company that has such a long warranty, Bryston has both incredible confidence in their product and the business savvy to know that they won't ever lose money with their twenty (20) year warranty. However, this unit is more than 20 years old, thus the warranty has expired. As I learned when purchasing a Tappan microwave, a Honda snowblower and a Tilley hat, when a company has such confidence and savvy with a product, every retailer wants to sell you an "extended warranty". However, an extended warranty on such incredibly made products is a waste of money. In other words, lets be real, Bryston is bulletproof, they know it, and so does everyone else in the industry. Personally, as a customer, I really like buying products that are bulletproof and so should you. My best bet, my Tilley hat that was my Dad's before me, my Tappan microwave that still gets use daily in a school teachers' lounge, my Honda snowblower that I bought when I bought my first house, and this Bryston amp will be here long after we all die. I couldn't have said it better myself. ;) |
| Most people who buy a Bryston of that age would want to send it back to be rebuilt. The rebuild from Bryston Service cost $550.Add that to the price of the amplifier already and the box ($50.00),and you can see how expensive it gets. Understandable. I have two offers pending.
