Citation XX; XXP - Stereo Power Amplifier; Preamplifier Near Mint Set

A very rare and extremely well-regarded amplifier / preamplifier set. Designed by Dr. Matti Otala, these are widely considered to be some of the very best sounding audio components ever constructed. Their scarcity is due to their extremely high cost at the time of their release and the unwillingness of their few owners to ever let them go today. Cost was no object in their construction… no expense spared in designing the very best performance possible. Absolutely stunning components in every way.

“Launched as an absolute amplifier project in 1978 with the famed Matti Otala at the helm, the CITATION XX landed in the catalogs circa 1980/81 and in a few (rich, very rich) homes at about the same time. You don't see these that often, in fact you never do: Just plain mythical.”

Both pieces are in near mint condition. Performance is flawless. These have been very well-cared for, and the original crate and packaging has been retained for both pieces. Manuals, brochures and white papers are included.

Cosmetic condition is excellent. The amplifier has a very small scratch on the bottom of the unit and a very tiny - almost invisible - nick on the edge of the left, front handle (see pictures). Otherwise, we can not see any cosmetic flaws even under close examination and bright lighting.

The preamplifier includes the optional wooden case which has a few very small abrasions above and below the controls. The preamplifier itself is in flawless cosmetic condition.

Both items will be very carefully packaged for secure shipment inside a custom wooden crate. The collectable Citation XX crate will even be placed inside a larger wooden crate to ensure safe delivery anywhere.
