An example of the renowned German amp priced well below market value.
But, since nobody bought it after a month, I reduced the price even further.
This was the best amp (out of six, all premium gear) on my Quad ESLs.
If I could name one amp it reminds me of it would be the (also German) ASR Emitter. Instead of op-amps for voltage gain it uses valves, coupled to a zero-feedback current-source, discrete output stage. It has the same sort of ultra-purity - total absence of electronic signature.
The amp is in basically perfect cosmetic condition and has no operational issues at all. It is *dead* quiet and sounds superb.
This amplifier is one of a very few, rarified breed that possess a sort of preternatural purity. It made a Pass XA30.5 (Class A solid-state) sound grainy and unrefined, and Cary 805 AEs ($12,000 SET monos) sound also coarse as well as slow and thick.
I will stand by the statement that it is one of the most pure, distortion-free amps I've ever heard.
The newer version of this amp ("The Power Amp") retails for a staggering $27,000, and I have to question its superiority given that it uses ICs instead of a discrete output stage.
I am selling because I've gone back to hi-eff speakers that are happy with 2-5 watts.
I have the original wood crate and outer box. I will ship for a flat $100.
